Treasure Beach

Situated by the turquoise waters of the west coast's Paynes Bay, about a mile south of historic Holetown, Treasure Beach's laid back civility typically draws radiant honeymooners and those seeking a peaceful, intimate Barbados retreat.

Cross the lawn, partly shaded by a magnificent mahogany tree, and you're instantly on the supple sand of a breathtaking beach where, every glorious morning, cool towels and fruit kebabs are proffered.

There are a mere 35 spacious suites to Treasure Beach's name, together forming a gentle horseshoe around a freshwater swimming pool. They feature attractive coral-stone walls, wood ceilings and separate lounges, plus a balcony or patio and the newest allow guests to relax on their own beachfront terrace and cool off in a private plunge pool.

Dining is a guaranteed treat, especially when the stars are out and the Caribbean Sea can be heard rhythmically lapping against the shore. The alfresco restaurant's cosy bar - with mahogany countertop and wooden decking - makes for an idyllic spot to savour a glass of Cuvee ‘Dom Perignon' 1998/99.

Come Tuesday evenings, a poolside barbecue buffet with live music brings the retreat gently alive.

There's a gym and staff can organise a wide selection of watersports and tours.
