THE SEYCHELLES

The Seychelles are an archipelago of romantic retreats, cast adrift in the Indian Ocean. Set around 1,200 miles off the east coast of Africa, they include some of the oldest mid-oceanic granite islands on Earth. Others form low-lying coral atolls and reef islands.

THE SEYCHELLES

A tropical paradise, the islands are known for their legendary raw beauty which is characterised by porcelain beaches, turquoise waters, marine reserves and spectacular wildlife. All this can be savoured in understated luxury in exclusive hideaways, where such tranquil pleasures as barefoot shoreline strolls and dining beneath the stars soon become second nature.

The waters here, teeming with marine turtles and over a hundred species of tropical fish, make for a mesmerising 3D gallery for scuba divers and snorkellers. Above water, a lush wilderness reveals rare birds, and the famous, erotically-shaped Coco de Mer plant, thought by explorers to be the Forbidden Fruit of the Garden of Eden.

Part of the Seychelles is a World Heritage Site, including Aldabra Island, which has the world’s largest raised coral atoll. And the lush forest and wild pineapple, coffee and allspice bushes of Vallée de Mai on Praslin Island, reputed to be the original Garden of Eden.
