SINGAPORE
Dining
Singapore richly deserves its reputation as the food capital of Asia. From hawker centres to glamorous palaces of gastronomy, memorable local, regional and international meals await you.
Culture
Take in the myriad of colours and cultures in Little India and Chinatown where temples and mosques welcome curious observers. Or recapture the colonial era with a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel. Just outside the city, and easily reached, are large jungle reserves and edifying historic sites.
Shopping
Shopping is a sport in Singapore, and best played on Orchard Road, a very long stretch of luxury malls and exclusive hotels. For retail therapy with a more local flavour, try Little India, Arab Street, and Chinatown.
Getting around
You have plenty of options. By metered taxis, the not-too-taxing MRT subway system, bus, or on the water by ferry or bumboat. Rickshaws are now only really found in Chinatown.
